Have a seat..........

I have been thinking and weirdly? reading alot about saddles lately. Ira Ryan has a nice bit on his blog and the new Rouleur has a nice piece and I'll paraphrase, about when and why the evolution of saddles reached it's zenith. And I agree looks wise and feel wise, the 1980's is it! Rolls, Regal, Concor, Turbo, et al. But these day's every dentist wants the next lightist bike in the coffee shop ride and that's just it, you can really tell who rides and who doesn't by their saddle. The guys who spend the most time riding, ride the old fav's and the fakes ride the carbon ass hatchets. I've tried them all and my new true love is the Fizik Aliante and I am not alone. I'm done searching.....uh now just need to figure out my pedal situation on the crossbike and also I'm so over carbon seatposts. It never ends.

  2. I also like fizik aliante and have a few vitesse models too which I have ridden far on. (Too many bikes) It can be an individual thing though and I've wondered why a saddle can be good for 90 minutes and then start to really hurt. In contrast my Brooks B19 starts out hurting and gets better the longer I sit on it. Usually I ride the fizik tho!

  3. for some reason, the Pluggers syndicated cartoon came to mind, followed by these "you might be a Plugger if"...
you own a nice pair of sewup wheels, but all your tires are rotten
you fondly remember owning all-Campy, though your current bike is a mishmash of Euro and Jap, and honestly, it works better
you still ride Cinelli, bar and stem
    Silca means something to you
all your cycling clothing has patched spots
you don't own a single pair of trendy cycling socks

  4. The saddle is really where everything hits the road. I am with O the saddle is very personal both in choice and fit. I am riding the same saddle on my second bike it is has served me and by butt well for many many miles and it will be a very sad day when if finally breaks down and I have to find another best riding buddy.

  5. Choosing a saddle is very important because it is a supportive structure for a rider or other load.
