I have been thinking and weirdly? reading alot about saddles lately. Ira Ryan has a nice bit on his blog and the new Rouleur has a nice piece and I'll paraphrase, about when and why the evolution of saddles reached it's zenith. And I agree looks wise and feel wise, the 1980's is it! Rolls, Regal, Concor, Turbo, et al. But these day's every dentist wants the next lightist bike in the coffee shop ride and that's just it, you can really tell who rides and who doesn't by their saddle. The guys who spend the most time riding, ride the old fav's and the fakes ride the carbon ass hatchets. I've tried them all and my new true love is the Fizik Aliante and I am not alone. I'm done searching.....uh now just need to figure out my pedal situation on the crossbike and also I'm so over carbon seatposts. It never ends.
Dedicated to those who wear analog watches, ride downtube shifters and can grow a mustache.

King Kohb.
If I were to own a carbon bike, which I never would. It would be the new Pina Dogma Kohb, sounds like the ship Columbus sailed over here on. Oh and the team Sky blue Fmb tubs are a must have. I'll take mine with Super Record please, oh well just make it Super Recordo Electronico, which is the name I came up with for the new electronic campy groupo.

SSCXWC Report
The weather could not have been worse, I have no idea who won or if there was a winner and this is how my race went in the 3's, as seen on the Seattle times web site; http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2013250095_b1weatherlo25.html
Basically this is how my life is going right now, shit randomly explodes when things are looking good.

The Horror.
At the end of Apocalypse Now and Heart of Darkness (the book the movie was based on) the last words out of Col. Kurtz were "the horror" and that what I said before I died when I stumbled upon this ebay auction; http://cgi.ebay.com/Pinarello-Single-Speed-Dream-Bike-/260679076651?pt=Road_Bikes&hash=item3cb1af0b2b
Only $2500! oh my god! what a deal...oh and to make it even better it's in Hawaii so the shipping is like $300! I would rather have $2500 plus shipping, converted into rolls of nickels and shoved up my.....oh god I died again just looking at it...

Baron x CNC team issue Cross Bike
The new cool team in Seattle, Carbon Neutral Cycling has been graciously sponsered by Baron cycles, you may have seen the porprietor, Geoff making espresso at all the local cross races this year, he also races on the team and is generally a pretty great guy. After some literal teething problems she is ready for Sunday. The great thing about hooking up a race team is that you get feedback from guy's who are going to hammer on these things, not hang them in the garage. True Temper OX tubes with Columbus life stays, 19.2lbs with Rival and a heavy fork, an Edge fork I mean Enve (I'm never going to get used to that) coming soon. This thing fits me so perfect and just glides.
And yes, those are R-sys wheels more info on those soon.

A real Cinelli.
This is about two wheeled perfection, with a little longer stem though. The more Cinelli goes the easy money MASH, sell to the lowest common denominator route, the bigger the disconnect they create. A shame really because they still make nice rode bikes, I think? My head has been bashed in by so many vigorelli's that I can't remember the last time I saw an add or any publicity for anything else from Cinelli. Too bad, the XRC stainless bike looks great and that's my point really, no one who buys a can of FOur LoCO is also simultaneosly in the market for a $90 bottle of cabernet sauvignon.

Mashed Cinelli.
Oh cool, a generic made in China track frame! And what's this, it has street cred by way of the cool dudes from MASH! Give me a break, if I wanted to buy an aluminum track frame made in china I would buy a Leader or a Fuji. The idea of having to pre-order one of these and pay a shit load for it bums me out! And don't get me started on that Raleigh x Mike Giant x Macawhatever things. Ugh....I'm sure Jared Leto is getting really excited.
Update: Check out the hilariously catty comment from the US dist, of Cinelli.

StarCrossed
Well I was a little nervous going into Starcrossed, having won the previous week. I arrived and was greeted by Geoff from Baron bikes making espresso for everyone and was promply given my new skinsuit, Great! The course was super hard, no let up and we had to start 30sec in arrears of the masters, why on earth would they do that? I must have passed about 80 of them.
Well missed out on second my an inch or two, was beat by two international sandbagers from Canada.

I'm Cross @ Cross.
Well after being excited for cross season to finally arrive, I now wish it was over. It was all fun and games until the racing started and the rain came. I had to sandbag my first race in order to make it to work after. I was second in the hole shot, dropped the leader in the first set of corners and then bang! a bigger sandbagger than me came around just before the run up. We had a good gap but I felt like I was going too deep too early and held back letting him go, a comfortable gap opened between myself and the shattered field so I just tried not to make any mistakes and then I felt it, a soft rear tire.....I kept on but after crossing the line with two laps to go, it was totally flat and I did my best cat 4 pro move and ghost rode my bike through the line tape and yelled, "this place is a shithole!" which it was. My buddy from work ran up and gave me a wheel, you're not done yet! I pressed on with my eyes crossed in anger and frustration and still finished in the top half after a 5minute wheel change.
