I Like These......

I come to you with a bit of sadness this week as I have found a crack in my Colnago, oh well just an excuse to get new frame. I really love this Kelly Bedford cross bike, I'm not huge on cross bikes or Shimano but this thing looks SO good. I had never seen a Seven I liked until I laid eyes on this baby. Best Seven ever?

Random Randomness

I have an enduring affinity for the magical symbol of 80's tech insanity that is the Campagnolo Biodinamica water bottle. I just love the look of them and any bike you put one on instantly becomes so vulgar it's chic. I grab as many as I can and they have graced a few of my bikes over they years but alas I've vowed to ride my bikes and not fetishize them, so they have been removed in lue of water bottles that I can actually drink from. Form over fashion, who knew.

Random Rapha

A few pic's I liked from Rapha's Japan trip, the clothes drying are a classic look at a cyclist's life and standing in a shop with a blank stare, wondering what do do next, is pretty much my day to day. I'm usally know to not be the biggist fan of Japanese bikes and parts but I really like the look of that Kalavinka frame. Oh and what is the deal with all of these fixed freestyle edits popping up, every 19 year old photography student thinks that just because he has been riding a fixed gear for 6 month's he should make a movie. Enough. It's at the point that I think a track bike with 23c tires and no brakes is reasonable compared to these wretched 700cmx bikes with 40mm stems, 45c tires and the seat 3'' too low.

Espresso and Embrocation

Another early morning out training, I have never been one to bow down at the temple of Ti but the new Moots Vamoots RSL is really to my liking, with all those Ti bits like the new stem and seatpost, oh and a BB30, it looks pretty great.

Some One has Been Reading my Blog

One of my fav's Filippo Pozzato has been seen as of late sporting a mustache. Watch out dude they're a lot of responsibility. This is one of the best pic's ever, shopping for a Ferrari in your Italian national champ kit, in Qatar before the race.

OOOSHIES of the Week

Two hot fire jams I found this week, the Time is another one from the richers at the Pista Palace. While I am not that into that frame as it's be be Time's relaxed geometry model I think it's pretty hot, Lightweight's never hurt. The Merkcx is the personification of what I've been dreaming about turning my Colnago into for the summer, the Molteni orange is a little nouveau riche for me though.

My New Favorite Dirtbag

Pez cycling has a great feature about Daniel Holloway, boy what a dirtbag but boy does he make track racing look fun again.

Rapha 2010 Yikes.

Yikes, here I go again but I need these jams from the Rapha 2010 range. I know I will get no end to the shit but that pocket on the back of that button up is fresh, so what? Oh, the Belgian and Italian jerseys are pretty great too.

Helmet Hipsters

I got an email from the UCI regarding new helmet mandates for 2010 and Euro certifited helmets like Catlike will not be allowed. SO all you helmet hipsters and Thor Hushovd's who want to start racing track just buy a Lazer, oh on second thought I have one of those buy a, er.....buy a Giro. Catlikes are GROSS any way.

Covering My Bases

When you start to ride more, all those long days stacked one after the other, it's nice to invest in a few things that make the days glide by. Especially this time of year when those long days in the rain are finished off by a chandelier of wet clothes drying in the shower. So it's nice to have a few luxury items covering the bases. I'm not a glove guy but these soft leather Giro LX gloves are the jam and I hate wearing helmets but this Lazer is one I really find myself not minding and my love for white Sidi's needs no intoduction, the best Period. Still made in Italy, rarer and rarer these days. Up keep on a guy like me gets expensive. I do really hate when I see some old man on a $7000 Ti Seven with cheap worn out shoes he bought nine years ago and Performance brand shorts. Have a little dignity.

Super Bowl Sunday

Football sucks, Go ride your bike.

Team Sky killing the Tour of Qatar team time trial.

I like this format, no gross TT bikes or helmets, just balls out.

Love is.....

Love is riding a steel bicycle. My newly refined 88' Paramount with the addition of Campy 10spd barend shifters retrofitted as downtube shifters, I think I may have found IT....steel frame and fork with the modern convenience of 10spd indexing, too good. But those Deltas, eh.....eh...between the screaming noise and the pulsing, there is the little issue of not stoping. The question is should I keep these guys on the mantle or should I sell them? Is it wrong to keep something I hate, just for shits?
